Handmade press-on nails from the studio
Ginger Nails is a one-person studio in Copenhagen that makes press-on nails by hand to your own measurements in millimetres. Below are sets we have already made: first four custom sets shown next to the moodboard they were built on, then a gallery of colours, shapes and lengths.
From moodboard to finished set
A custom set starts with pictures. You send what you are drawn to, and we draw the design from it. Here are four sets shown next to the moodboard they came from.
Dangerous
A whole album as a moodboard. Ten nails painted by hand after the Dangerous cover: eyes, gold ornaments, a red star and lettering. Stiletto shape, long length. The set took around ten hours to paint.
Sun and butterfly
The customer sent pictures of a sun, a butterfly and chakra colours. The set was painted in magenta and plum with gold lines, a sun on one middle finger and a butterfly on the index finger. Coffin shape, long length.
Orchid in autumn
The moodboard was a burgundy orchid, golden light and an autumn forest. It became burgundy, nude and pink marble with gold foil and a 3D gold flower on the accent nail. Stiletto shape, long length.
Paris in October
Burgundy and mustard with dots, put together after an October day in Paris. Coffin shape. Here the set lies on the size card that comes with it, so you can see the size of each nail.
Sets we have made
The set as it arrives
The finished Dangerous set in its box. Every nail is painted, shaped and sealed by hand, and the set ships in a box with sticky tabs, a nail kit with a file, glue, a buffer, an orange stick and an alcohol pad, and a guide for applying and removing the nails.
Burgundy and caramel with gold edges
Burgundy cat eye with a small gold flower, caramel and nude with hand-painted gold outlines, and a red accent nail with gold glitter at the tip. Almond shape, medium length. Shown on the hand, as the set looks when worn.
Pink with gold and dried flowers
Sheer pink with hand-painted gold branches, small crystals and real dried flowers set into the gel. Coffin shape, long length.
Milky white with gold
Milky white with a hand-drawn gold edge, a 3D flower with gold beads and a fine gold branch. Almond shape, medium length. Sets like this are most often ordered for weddings and confirmations.
Pearl with a crystal nail
Pearly pink with a shifting sheen, a few single stones and one nail covered entirely in crystals. Square coffin shape, long length.
Red with glitter
Deep red with glitter in the polish itself and an accent nail with gold and silver foil. Almond shape, long length. Made for Christmas and New Year.
Red, up close
The same red set up close. The accent nail has a small cluster of crystals at the cuticle, and the glitter sits inside the polish rather than on top, so the surface stays completely smooth.
Petrol blue cat eye
Cat eye is a magnetic effect: the shimmer gathers in a band of light that moves as the hand moves. Here in petrol blue with dark edges. Almond shape, medium length.
Cat eye in daylight
The same blue set in daylight, where the band of light shows most clearly. Worn at Easter.
Terracotta with gold chrome
Terracotta with gold chrome: a gold edge and a dried flower on the accent nails, fine gold stripes on the rest. Almond shape, medium length.
Gold chrome as a French tip
The same terracotta set from the side. The gold chrome sits as a French tip on some nails and as a frame around the whole nail on others.
Mint with a navy accent
Mint and pearl with a cool sheen, and one navy nail with a hand-painted silver pattern and a single crystal. Almond shape, medium length.
Short nude with a chrome tip
Milky nude with chrome French tips. Round shape, short length. The set for anyone who wants something discreet that holds up to an ordinary working day.
Questions about custom press-on nails
Can I have a set painted from my own picture?
Yes. Send a picture, a moodboard or a description when you order your own set. We draw the design and confirm it by email before we start.
How long does a custom set take?
7 to 10 working days from the moment the design is approved. Ready-made sets from the studio ship in 1 to 2 working days.
What does a custom set cost?
Your own set starts at 599 kr. The price depends on shape, length and how much hand painting the design needs. You see the price before you pay.
Which shapes and lengths can I choose?
Almond, coffin, stiletto, square and round, in short, medium or long. The pictures above show all of them.
How do I find my size?
You measure your ten nails in millimetres with our size guide. You do not need to buy a sizing kit first.
How long does a set last?
Two to three weeks at a time. The set can be put on again afterwards, and if you look after it, it lasts for several months. See how to apply.
